Obtained his Medical Degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela. Dr. Acquavella is a medical oncologist specialized in the care of patients with melanoma and pancreatic cancer. He worked during 5 years as clinical staff at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), providing clinical care to cancer patients enrolled in clinical research protocols of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). He is trained as a physician-scientist at the NCI Medical Oncology and Surgery Branch with a laboratory-to-clinic translational research focus in cell therapy. He worked at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine where his clinical focus was cutaneous melanoma, uveal melanoma and pancreatic cancer. Additionally, Dr. Acquavella worked at Sanofi as a Senior Director, R&D Early Clinical Development and Immuno-oncology. He has a special interest in translating novel immunotherapies from the laboratory into first in- human clinical studies and vast experience in the preparation of clinical protocols.
